Morning Madness for our Fitness Fanatics
July 4th Ironman 'Run, Paddle, Chug'
Now in its 50th year, the Hermosa Ironman is a guaranteed good time for participants and spectators alike. The race consists of a mile-long run on the beach, a mile-long paddle in the ocean, followed by the added challenge of chugging a 6-pack of beer. It also happens to be the only time alcohol is allowed on the beach all year! The action starts at 11am and you must be 21 and over to participate. Sign ups will be Sunday July 2nd 10:00am-8:00pm and Monday July 3rd 10:00-6:00 pm. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for further updates. See you there!
Village Runner Independence Day 5K
This year marks the 30th annual 4th of July 5K and Firecracker Dash in Redondo Beach. Work up your appetite for that backyard BBQ later or get into the celebratory spirit by cheering from the sidelines! There will be chip timing, age division awards, and cash prizes. Added bonus: All participants will receive an Independence Day run t-shirt. Noice. The race kicks off at 8am, and you can register in advance and check out the route here.
Splash Zone: Family Fun
4th of July Begg Pool Party Celebration
Come splish splash with the kids and soak up the sunshine at 4th of July Begg Pool Party Celebration from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM on July 4th. The cost is $5 per person, and this event is hosted by Manhattan Beach Parks and Recreation Department, who can be contacted at (310) 802-5448 or via email. Why not extend the fun and pack a picnic to enjoy in Polliwog park afterwards?
Seaside Lagoon
While there won’t be fireworks in Redondo Beach this year, the city plans to host an Independence Day Celebration at the Seaside Lagoon on July 4th. Snow Cones and lots of fun activities will be on offer, as well as a DJ playing smash hits and of course a photo booth to capture the mems. The event will run from 10 a.m to 5:30 p.m July 4th. Entry is $8 for adults, $6 for children, free for children 2 and under.
All-Day Celebrations Featuring July 4th Fireworks
El Segundo Fourth of July Celebration at Recreation Park
This is a perfect event for families or those looking for a wholesome day outdoors, with the festivities kicking off at 10am with a hometown parade. Daytime events including the “diaper derby”, 3-legged races, and a pie-eating contest will run until 3:00pm. The evening activities, including live music and food booths will start at 5pm. Plan to stay for the grand finale fireworks show at 9pm! Wristbands are required for entry to Softball and Stevenson Fields during evening events; They are $5 a pop and can be purchased upon entry. However, El Segundo residents with a 2023 Rec ID Card can get up to 4 wristbands for FREE so call up your El Segundo friends and enjoy your Fourth like a local!
Palos Verdes Fourth of July Celebration and Drone Light Show
Make your way to Point Vicente Park in Palos Verdes to claim your spot on the grassy lawn, take in the panoramic ocean views, and prepare for a super cool display. This year’s event has a later start time than usual at 3 p.m. due to the drone light show (!!!) finale. In addition to live music, this family-friendly event will include food vendors, beer and wine, inflatables, rides, and games. The celebration will run until 9 pm.
