Keep Calm and Coffee On at These South Bay Specialty Coffee Shops

While we all love our Starbs’, there’s nothing quite like a small coffee shop to make you feel welcome while serving up some of the freshest coffee and mouth-watering baked goods. South Bay is lucky to have an array of quality artisanal coffee shops that will have you looking forward to your morning java, more than you already do. These are a few of our locals-only favorites to inspire and jumpstart your mornings!

Offset

7am - 4pm - El Segundo

If you’re headed North on Sepulveda Ave in El Segundo, make a stop at Offset Coffee for a pleasant pick-me-up. Offset Coffee prioritizes offering an approachable coffee experience, while ensuring quality products. Roasted locally in El Segundo, their coffee beans can be enjoyed in-house or in the comfort of your home. Save time by ordering online through their website where you’ll find your favorites, as well as seasonal products new to the South Bay. They even have a mobile pop-up you can rent to WOW and caffinate guests at your next event!

Goodboybob

Monday - Friday: 6:30am - 3pm, Saturday + Sunday: 7am - 4pm - Manhattan Beach

Owned by Manhattan Beach locals, Goodboybob offers in-store and at-home brew that is guaranteed to impress. They have an extensive collection of classic, single-origin, and rare coffees that cater to all taste buds. Order online through their app and their super-friendly staff will have your pastries and drink ready to go when you arrive. Their wide variety of treats like croissants, burritos, and pastries, with gluten-free and vegan options available, are sure to make you a regular. Oh, and the name? Inspired by the owners’ dog, of course!

Gitana Cafe

7am - 4pm - Hermosa Beach

Come for the caffine hit, leave with a… plant? Gitana Cafe in Hermosa Beach is a new Brazilian coffee shop that will soon become a fixture in your daily routine. With selections like vegan protein oats, ube espresso, and lavender lemonade, Gitana Cafe wows with its flavors, and floral-chic interior. The colorful artwork and big monstera plants in this cafe will brighten your morning before you’ve even taken a sip. Order online through the Toast app, that’s linked in their Instagram bio, and you’ll soon have sweets like a strawberry shortcake croissant or gluten-free ricotta cake in your hands.

BOLT

7am - 2pm - Hermosa Beach

A new addition to Hermosa, BOLT started with the idea to open a New York style breakfast restaurant in East Hollywood, and grew from there (to Hermosa - yay!). A nod to the east coast, BOLT is the first west coast brewer of Beanstock Coffee, which is roasted on Cape Cod. The coffee is superb, but not the only attraction - the space is chill and airy, and the food ranges from breakfast burritos to sweet home baked treats - sounds like a great place to start your day to us!

Pursue Coffee

Monday - Saturday: 6:30am - 2:30pm, Closed Sundays - North Redondo

It’s hard to decide what the best part of Pursue Coffee is.. Is it that they make one of the best Matchas in the area? Perhaps the mouthwatering scones that are baked daily in house? Or maybe it’s the vanilla bean latte made with real vanilla bean? While all those are a delight, we have to go with the welcoming, dedicated owners of this borderline Hermosa-North Redondo coffee shop; greeting every customer with gratitude and pouring dedication into every cup they brew. Order online through their website, and find easy access to their full menu, ranging from classic coffee drinks, to smoothies, to their made-in-house bites. If you need a little more sustenance, try the avocado or egg salad toast on sourdough or a fruit bowl with house granola and yogurt. Noms.

The Boy & The Bear

7am - 4pm - Redondo Beach

Nicknamed The Black Store, the Redondo Beach location of The Boy & The Bear is the flagship cafe for the brand that brought specialty coffee to the South Bay area. With coffee being roasted 3 times a week on-site and Colombian music coming from the speakers, you’re sure to enjoy the curated experience along with your premium Colombian brew. Order online through their website to pick up your must-have choice for your coffee fix. Try a Nordic Lights cold brew, or handcrafted pour-over before you grab a bag of their Vibrant Espresso to try at home.
